====== What hardware is available on Comet? ======

Comet has a mix of CPU and GPU nodes, all with x86_64 architecture.  

The HPC Portal has a [[https://hpc.researchcomputing.ncl.ac.uk/calc/resources/|list of resources]] and links to a calculator tool to help you work out the amount of resources you will need, and how much you might pay for enhanced access.  Remember that the free tier of Comet will still provide more resource than Rocket.

Writing a grant?  Use the [[https://hpc.researchcomputing.ncl.ac.uk/calc/|calculator tool]] to forecast costs of enhanced access to Comet.  Don't forget to also consider [[https://services.ncl.ac.uk/itservice/core-services/filestore/servicedefinition/|data storage]] and transfer costs.
