====== Why do I see 'Connection Closed' when I try to log in to Comet? ====== 'Connection Closed' is the message you receive when you try to ssh to a server and your access is denied. This can happen for a variety of reasons: * You have **only just been added** to your first Comet project - it takes 24 hours for project membership to be processed automatically and membership of at least 1 project is needed before Comet will accept your login * You have **only just passed** your driving test - it takes 24 hours for your driving test pass to be processed other common causes: * **Incorrect password** (for users who have been at the University for over 10 years, it's worth changing your password. Comet doesn't accept the encryption on some older user accounts) * ** Incorrect server** address - double check the details at [[started:connecting_onsite]] and remember to [[started:connecting_offsite|connect first to unix.ncl.ac.uk]] if connecting from offsite. It's best to try out ssh using fully qualified names (e.g. ''ssh na123@comet.hpc.ncl.ac.uk'') at the command line before setting up your ssh config file. * System error - If all of the above are correct, and your login is still denied, please let us know by logging a ticket at https://nuservice.ncl.ac.uk/ (or call 208 5999)
