Intel Compiler Suite

  • Category: NOT INSTALLED
  • Access method: NOT INSTALLED

The Intel Compiler Suite was a software module which was available on previous University HPC facilities (Rocket). It was loaded via the module load intel command and provided the following functions:

  • Intel C/C++/Fortran compiler
  • Intel MPI libraries / MPI runtime
  • Optimised Intel math libraries

Due to the change to AMD processors on current University HPC facilities (Comet), the Intel Compiler Suite is no longer offered.

Migration Path

C/C++/Fortran

Users wishing to compile C/C++/Fortran code should migration to either:

  • AMD Optimising Compiler
  • GCC

Optimised Math Libraries

If you need to take advantage of processor-optimised math libraries, use the following:

  • AMD Optimising Compiler Libraries

MPI Runtime

Users needing to use MPI jobs / MPI runtime can use MPI functionality built in to replacement versions of Slurm, or directly:

  • OpenMPI

Requests

Requests for new installations of the Intel Compiler Suite - or the equivalent replacement (Intel OneAPI) will not be considered for Comet. All new users should start using the AMD Optimising Compiler (where needed), or GCC if this is not required.
