We have prepared the following text to include in your University project applications.
If you are submitting a project proposal and the University is supporting the project by facilitating access to the freely available resources of Comet, then please use this text.
Newcastle University will contribute to this project by enabling access to a percentage of resources available within the Comet High Performance Computing facility.
Approximately 20% of the resources of Comet are free at the point of use for users, and this project will be able to access resources from that pool. This includes the following resource types:
Plus a shared, 2.2PB parallel file store for working data sets.
All users of the Comet HPC facility are able to draw on HPC support, training and workshops provided by the Newcastle University Research Software Engineering team.
Once these resources are used, or if additional compute resources are required, the funding from the project/grant will be used to provide priority access to the Comet High Performance Computing facility.
Project funds will then enable access the entire available compute capacity of the HPC. This includes the following resource types:
