The aim of this project is to generate global maps of species' Area of Habitat for freshwater species. This involves processing of large spatial datasets in R, primarily multiple high-resolution global land cover datasets, Digital Elevation Models and species' range polygons.
The software required for this project is R, which can perform all the necessary spatial data processing functions (such as conversion from polygon to raster, change in spatial resolution, selection, filtering and summation of raster layers).
