This project considers high-fidelity numerical simulations of turbulent reacting flow. The main research interest is hydrogen combustion as a carbon-free fuel, with a particular focus on thermodiffusive instabilities in lean premixed flames.
We use code developed at the Center for Computational Sciences and Engineering at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The code is a C++/fortran hybrid, massively parallelised reacting Navier-Stokes solver. See https://amrex-combustion.github.io/PeleLMeX/ for more details.
