Project Description

Magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of galactic outflows powered by AGN. Simulations feature cosmic ray transport. which will be used to test their impact on outflow dynamics, multi-phase structure and for the production of mock radio images.

Software or Compute Methods

The project involves the performance of galaxy evolution simulations with the moving-mesh magneto-hydrodynamic code Arepo (Springel et al. 2010, Pakmor et al. 2016). The code solves for MHD, cosmic ray transport and gravity on an unstructured mesh that advects with the flow.
