Project Description

This project tests the applicability of MADflow to model complex glacial and non-glacial hazard cascades. Testing is based on the 2021 Chamoli event and the two 2026 Nepal events, and the smaller debris flows in Scotland

Software or Compute Methods

MADFlow is a light-weight yet highly accurate numerical simulation tool for mobility analysis of gravity-driven flows of tailings, soil, rock and/or water mixtures. It is particularly suited for studying phenomena such as debris flows, tailings flow, mudflows, mud floods, flowslides and avalanches.
